Current research
Dr. George W. Booz is a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the School of Medicine and a member of the Graduate Faculty in the School of Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. His research is focused on intracellular signaling in heart cells related to cardiac remodeling due to inflammation, ischemia, and hypertension. Dr. Booz has a long-standing interest in the impact of angiotensin II, cytokines, and hypertension on cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis, and the progression of adverse cardiac remodeling to heart failure. He is a member of several editorial boards and editor-in-chief of a cardiovascular pharmacology journal.
